Featured Poem - Comedy

A John Thomas McMac'n'Mac © poem 'We walked home pissed one night'.   A tale of excess of drink and nocturnal shenanigans from his book of poems 'The Light's Gone Out'.

Lo' thru night and gale we walk
To keep our minds we sing, we talk
The boughs may bend, the dogs may bark
Yet 'neath the stars, the path is dark

We're nearly at out our journeys end
Just one more stretch, and one more bend
Terrified, no time to think
We draw upon another drink

The silence deafening as we turn
There's something struggling from the burn
Some ghostly being, all gnashing teeth
Oh no, thank god, it's only Keith

Oh come and have a nice we swallee
To warm yer up, and fill yer belly
And tell the tale of yer nearly drowning
As the whiskey tak's away yer frowning
